"Derek Yaple-Schobert,
Montreal-based pianist, specializes in taking listeners on memorable
musical journeys. His programs feature a broad spectrum of romantic and
classical favorites, less commonly heard Nordic music by Grieg and Carl
Nielson, and contemporary works by Canadian composers. Beyond his
consummate musicianship, he is able to communicate effectively with any
audience, and discusses the music freely and winsomely during his
recitals. He sees himself as an ambassador to "people who think they don't
like classical music."
Younger listeners are encouraged to come under parental supervision.
